Ages: 6 months-3 years old
Parent and Child 1/2 is a course that is meant to help children become comfortable in the water and learn the basic skills of swimming and safety. Within this course the guardian will learn how to properly hold their child and explore the locomotion and swimming skills. If the child is older and more advanced they will be asked to put skills together and perform skills in unison to advance their skill set and prepare them for more advanced skills.

Ages 3 to 6 years. Swim lessons for the toilet trained preschooler.

Preschool 1

Ages: 3-6 years old
Preschool Level 1 is an introductory course to swimming. In this lesson the participants will work on water entry and exit, submerging, floating on front and back, gliding on front and back, rolling over, and arm/leg action for swimming on the front and back.

Preschool 3

Ages: 3-6 years old
Preschool Level 3 is an advanced level where we are building more distance on our front and completing up to 15 feet independently, and up to 10 feet independently on our back. Other skills learned in this course are Jellyfish float, Turtle float, introduction to rotary breathing, along with introduction to treading water.

Preschool 2

Ages: 3-6 years old
Preschool Level 2 is an intermediate level, focused on having children swim on their front 5 feet independently and 15 feet elementary backstroke with aids. Other skills within the course include front and back floats without aid or assistance for 5 seconds.

1ST GRADE AND HIGHER

45 minute classes
Child must currently be in first grade or higher.
Advancement to the next level is dependent on mastery of previous level’s skills.

Level 1

Level 1 is an introduction to the water. We are working on becoming comfortable within the water while learning skills like submerging, front/back floats independently, glides, beginner front crawl, and elementary backstroke.

Level 2

In Level 2 our main focus is transitioning from our beginner stroke to
front crawl with rotary breathing. Other skills that will be achieved include:
Elementary back crawl for 15 feet independently, mastering 4 floats, and
introduction to rotary breathing.

Level 4 is a more advanced level where we are completing front crawl for 25 yards with rotary breathing, elementary back crawl for 25 yards, back crawl for 15 yards. In this level we will introduce the Breaststroke, Sidestroke and Butterfly.

Level 5

Level 5 is where we are refining all of our strokes that we have learned thus far (Front Crawl 50 yards, Back Crawl 25 yards, Sidestroke 25 yards, Breaststroke 25 yards, Butterfly 25 yards). Once they complete level 5 they should show mastery in all strokes.

Swim Team Transition

Child Must be in 1st grade or Higher
(45 minute course twice per a week)
In this course we are introduced to swim team skills such as flip turns, drills for all strokes to help in muscle group targeting, and development of swimming technique. This course will be run similar to a swim team practice where the instructor will build sets and workouts for children to hone their skills.

SWIM LESSON POLICIES

All swimming lessons are subject to change based on the number of participants who have registered for the class. All classes need a minimum of 3 participants registered to run. In the event that a class
does not have the minimum number of students to run Princeton will either combine the class with another one or cancel the class. In the event that a class in canceled you will be given these options:
1) Move into another swim lesson at the same level.
2) Pay the difference for a Private or Semi-Private swim lesson.
3) Receive a credit on your account. If for any reason you decide to withdraw from a class this must be done before the first week of classes and you will receive a credit on your account. Once classes
have begun no refunds will be made. Due to the demand of the classes, and the fact that they fill, if your child or yourself miss a class it cannot be made up by attending another class.

  • I joined about four months ago for two years to start. I had used the facility about three years ago for physical therapy with UW so I knew what to expect. Three times a week I go to swim classes in the early mornings, do my physical therapy in the resistance pool ahead of time and enjoy the whirlpool after my classes. When the weather cools down I will add some walking and perhaps a yoga class to my schedule. I like meeting new friends and knowing that every time I go there will be friendly faces to greet me and EXCELLENT trainers leading my classes.
